A beginner's work in progress.......

Today, the New York Times enthusiastically endorsed John Kerry for president. A summary, in part:

"The Bush White House has always given us the worst aspects of the American right without any of the advantages. We get the radical goals but not the efficient management. The Department of Education's handling of the No Child Left Behind Act has been heavily politicized and inept. The Department of Homeland Security is famous for its useless alerts and its inability to distribute antiterrorism aid according to actual threats. Without providing enough troops to properly secure Iraq, the administration has managed to so strain the resources of our armed forces that the nation is unprepared to respond to a crisis anywhere else in the world."

I know many here will dismiss this as just lefty rhetoric provided by a lefty rag, but in fact, it's one of the most informative newspapers in the country. Of course, I wholeheartedly support their endoresement. It's a good article. So, I am providing this link.

Many newspapers endorse BOTH candidates. Bush was backed by The Chicago Tribune the same day as The New York Times backed Kerry.

It is not surprising that NY times is behind Kerry. When was the last time NY Times endorse a Republican?

WOW! The New York Times? Simply stunning. I believe the last time the NYT endorsed a Republican - it was Abraham Lincoln (correct me if I'm wrong)

Kerry is winning the circulation war at this moment....

probably because the media loves the underdog

The NYT remains one of the most respected newspapers in the country and throughout the world.

At one time, yes it was. But lately the NYT has lost credability with the people.

Yea, respected by whom?  If Fox News came out and endorsed Bush, what do you think liberals would be saying?

on Oct 17, 2004
Honestly, it would probably be playing to expectations(not mine in particular)....just as the NYT's endorsement of Kerry plays to expectations as well.

And just as if the New York Post endorsing Bush would play to my own expectations.

I wonder if liberals will still deny that there's a liberal bias in the media.

on Oct 17, 2004
There is both a liberal(obviously) and a conservative(corporate based--- you don't crap where you eat) bias in the media generally speaking.
on Oct 18, 2004
No, not suprising, but a Fox News endorsement! That would be news!

Only by the left ostriches, both the patriotic and non-patriotic ones.
