Where's the outrage?

"Military action was now seen as inevitable. Bush wanted to remove Saddam through military action justified by the conjunction of terrorism and WMD. But the intelligence and facts were being fixed around the policy."

The above quote is from the Downing Street memo, dated 8 months prior to the Iraq invasion. In other words, all dubya's hoopla about using war as a last resort, and giving the weapons inspectors opportunities to find WMD's, and all the other rhetoric was just lip service. Dubya was taking this country to war no matter what and for god knows what. It wasn't about WMD's. It wasn't about any kind of threat to the USA. It was because Saddam had outlived his usefulness to the CIA, and dubya didn't want him talking.

Do you think Saddam is really going to get a fair trial? I doubt it. He'll either get a completely unfair trial, in which he will not be allowed to present any kind of relevant case, or he will die in prison first, thereby erasing the threat that he would bring to light a lot of dirt against the CIA; the same CIA that dubya was tasked to oversee. Saddam will never, ever get a fair trial. It would cost this country way too much exposure.

Thousands of US soldiers have been killed and maimed. Tens of thousands of Iraqis have been killed and maimed. If ever the Muslem world hated the US, their hatred has been increased tenfold. Sure the Americans are winning little battles. Sure, we're finding insurgents' bunkers, and weapons caches. Sure, our soldiers are doing the best they know how to do, to keep themselves alive. Sure they are rebuilding the schools and hospitals and whatever that they destroyed. But, I'm not sure they can actually win the war, whatever that means. Winning the hearts and minds of the Iraqis is completely out of the picture now. All we can do is squelch the insurgency, and call that a win. What a loss, really.

But, what did they destroy them for and kill thousands for in the first place? To take down one man? How is this killing justified? How is the $$billions of American money spent worth this kind of killing and destruction? Well, it isn't. No way, no how. It's criminal. What a horrific waste of resources.

This Downing Street memo is proof positive that dubya committed high crimes and misdemeanors. Treasonous acts against the American people and the world at large, and of course against the Iraqi people. Their lives are in utter chaos now. Electricity is sporadic at best. Their water supply is hopefully being restored. The hospitals that we destroyed are slowly being fixed. Let's not forget that these $$billions are not being used for American schools and hospitals and roads and bridges and medical care and food, etc. What a waste. What a cruel waste and joke on the American people.

fair trial....FAIR TRIAL?????? Give me a break....did your buddy Saddam give anyone a fair trial before he tortured and killed them? What about his two thuggish sons? The only fair trial Saddam would get is if he does get put to death....

about the hospitals and schools....heh....whatever, dabe....

In all actuality, "what a cruel waste and joke on the American people", you are....

oh....and you want to talk about going to war in Iraq as being inevitable.....remember when you "Hero of Foriegn Wars", John Kerry, was calling for an invastion with Iraq many months prior to the actual invasion? You probably don't want to remember that, one....hell, Kerry himself doesn't want to remember that one....

Like I said, Dabe..."what a cruel waste and joke on the American people" you are.....

this is really sad. I would like to think that we, as Americans, wouldn't sink so low that we'd not allow a fair trial for anyone, not just saddam hussein. It's what our whole judicial system is based upon. If we sink to saddam's awful standards, then we've become no better than him. Myth, this is really disappointing.

John Kerry, was calling for an invastion with Iraq many months prior to the actual invasion?

Excuse me, but where does it say that Kerry called for war? I think he voted to authorize war "as a last resort", which is a big difference, and which the disassembling dubyas didn't do. They lied. It's not so terrible that you bought into it then, like so many people did, but that you all refuse to see what a horrific mistake it really was. And, how your beloved bush has resulted in the deaths and maimings of so many Americans, as well as Iraqis, based on his lies. That's what is so awful. Your continuing refusal to acknowledge the gross criminality of this mess certainly makes you complicit in it. History will eventually show this.

If you are so concerned about Saddam, why don't you just go over there and help him. Why is the left and radicals like yourself so concerned about brutal dictators?

Our judicial system is not trying Saddam, the elected Iraqi government is trying him.

This "memo" is not proof of anything. The rest of your post is just factless rants from a crazed liberal.

So, why would you support an Iraqi government who would not give Saddam a fair trial, when you have such a beef about Saddam not giving his victims a fair trial? And, why would you be so gung ho over the success of the Iraqi government if you suspect that maybe, maybe it may be as corrupt as Saddam was?

Regardless of whether it would be an Iraqi court, an American court, or an Eskimo court, one would still think that he should get a fair trial. That is the kind of humanity I would like to see happen there. But, you seem to not give much of a rat's ass about what is right, or humane, or civil, or sensible. Just kill, kill, and kill again. Kill em deader and deader. What fucking hypocrisy........ and thoroughly dumbass lunacy.

Where is your facts for your allegations? Saddam's trial hasn't even started and you are already condemning it. There is no evidence that Saddam will not receive a fair trial, but that doesn't stop you from your useless rants does it.

What hypocrosy are you talking about? Do you even read your own bs? Unless you can tell me the dates of the anti-Saddam protests you attended, keep your hypocrisy bs to yourself.

What is it with your wackos that you get so outraged about Saddam getting a fair trial? Where were you when Saddam was executing people without trials? Where was the protests then? Why is it you people are so silent when it comes to innocent victims, but when a brutal dictator gets his day in court, you go out of your way to defend him? You want to talk about hypocrisy.

Yet again, for yet another excrutiating slow and dumbass, to whom I have not answered to his liking, but to which I repeat:

And, as far as innocent victims are concerned, what about all the innocent Iraqis that the US has been bombing the living daylights out of? Seems that you have no concern whatsoever when the victims are from American bombs, but only those who were killed by Saddam. So, why is that? Why overlook all the 100,000 dead people from our lunatic's military campaign? You are a freakin' lousy dumbass hypocrit.

First of all, your 100,000 is incorrect. Nevermind facts, just go with what the left wing sites tell you.

And don't tell me about concern for Iraqis. Did you tell me when was the last anti-Saddam protest was? You lefties have this fake outrage about Iraqi people now, but did not say a word when Saddam was killing them. Do you want to talk about hypocrisy again?

Why don't you comment in the posts about how the Iraqis are happy we liberated them? Do you read the stories of how Iraqis are taking more and more control of their own lives and government? Where are your comments about the good things happening in Iraq? It's people like you who wish the U.S. will fail, just so you can hate Bush a little bit more. Thanks lefties, for nothing.

The muslim world has nothing on the hate America crowd compared to the loony loopy luddite leftists.  They would rather see a 100,000 dead GIs than to give any conservative even the faintest of praise.

The Muslim world just has to look at idiocy like this to realize they have a friend in the left indeed.

I can go get some quotes from the "mainstream" DU. They actually hope for soldiers to get killed.

You also haven't told me when the last anti-Saddam protest was you attended?
