War profiteers?
Published on August 17, 2005 By dabe In Politics
When you look at the chart, and you consider that they got a no-bid contract to clean up the mess prior to the mess and anticipation of the mess, it's hard not to question the motives. Particularly when the VP is so heavily vested in Halliburton. He set up the who fucking scam, after all. There really ought to be a law against profitting from war. Most profits should be put into accounts to pay for war reparations. If that was the case, then not many people would want to participate, and they would HAVE to hold a bake sale to finance the effort, if they wanted it badly enough.

If your saying that fat cats like Chaney is making big bucks off of the profits from war, when why has Halliburtan paid their investor that same twelve and a half cents for the last five years. If they were making money hand over fist from the war, then why are they not paying the owners of the company more after the contracts?

Just because the stock has gone up, does not mean that the people who own the company are earning money from the company. Amazon.com lost tons of money and didn't show a profit when their stock sky rocketed in the 90's.

I would have to say that operating in a combat zone is expensive, even to Halliburtan.

I personnaly don't invest in a company that fails to show a profit two of the last four quarters.

In your hatred of free enterprise, capitalism, and success do you include the profits made by everyone? How about all the money Michael Moore has made, is that evil too? How about the media outlets who are profiting and all they are doing is running a tally of dead troops and ignoring anything that is actually newsworthy coming out of Iraq.

Yes, people do profit from war. I know it irks your cookies to see any government money going anywhere but to social programs, but Halliburton and other contractors happen to be offering goods and services to our troops and the rebuilding of Iraq... Dabe forbid they actually get paid to do it!!!

When you start doing your job for nothing, then I'll take anything you say seriously about others making money doing what they do.

'I would have to say that operating in a combat zone is expensive, even to Halliburtan.'
That would explain why they were so reluctant to get involved ...

More stupid statements about Halliburton. Where was your outrage when Clinton was giving Halliburton no-bid contracts? There was no oil war. There was no conspiracy. Get over it.

I have to ask dabe.

If you hate oil so much, and people profitting off of it. Where are your posts about the U.N., Kofi, and the oil for food scam?

Just out of Curioussity, what did the overall stockmarket do in that same time period?

What happened to Haliburtons' stock during the stock market fall of 2000-2002?

As Mark Twain said, there are 3 kind of lies.  Lies, Damn Lies, and statistics.  Guess we just saw a demonstration of the last one.
