I have seen this less than affectionate description of left-leaning individuals here at JU, and admittedly, I did not know what a luddite is. So, off I went to OneLook Link my online dictionary of choice to look up the word. Following is the definition I found: Lud·dite (plural Lud·dites) noun 1. opponent of new technology: somebody who opposes technological or industrial innovation 2. history 19thC protester against technology: a worker involved in protests in Britain in the 1...

I did not write this article. I will not say who did yet, because I want people to read it with an open mind. The content, after all, is what is so important here. It's about health care in this country, or lack thereof. It's about how this nation can get royally screwed when Congress allows corporate interests to write legislation. Please read on. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ There was a brief flurry of outrage when Congress passed the 2003 Medicare bill. The news media repo...

I'm not going to mention the blog site, because I don't want most of you righties going there to pollute it. So, I'm just reiterating the sentiment here for all our edifications: F*ck You George Bush.......... ....for preaching the Culture of Life while you kill innocent children. ....for bringing George Orwell's 1984 to life. ....for taking vacations when the system was blinking red...ie...52 warnings. ....single handedly halting tolerance in our society. ....for revelin...

The bolded emphases are mine. Did Bush really cook the books? What's missing here, of course, is why was Bush so hell-bent on invading Iraq if the legal requirements for such invasion were as thin as this memo stated? Why did Britain go along with this folly? So many questions, and no anwers.......................... I don't believe we will get any until Bush and Co. are no longer in power. Why do I say that? Because they don't want us to have the answers because they are less than fla...

Tonight at 8:00 pm ET on PAX TV they are airing this award-winning 1989 Oliver Stone film. If you have not previously seen it, it's a great movie. If you do not get cable TV, then I recommend that you rent it. There have been many parallels drawn between Viet Nam and Iraq, that I think this is a very relevant movie today. Interesting that it's PAX that is airing it. Tom Cruise, in what I consider to be his masterpiece performance, plays Ron Kovic, a disabled Viet Nam veteran who become...

A Reputation in Tatters George W. Bush and his gang of neocon warmongers have destroyed America’s reputation. It is likely to stay destroyed, because at this point the only way to restore America’s reputation would be to impeach and convict President Bush for intentionally deceiving Congress and the American people in order to start a war of aggression against a country that posed no threat to the United States. America can redeem itself only by holding Bush accountable. As intent as...

This is an article written by someone who has been there and done that. The Case for a National ID by Florin Milea I know, as a person from Eastern Europe, what an id used to look like there. A booklet, a bit smaller then a US passport, on official paper, impossible to fake. Each page had the state emblem watermarked in. And of course the serial number, just as unique as the social security number. While in the cradle, the birth certificate would be suffice. At death, that speci...

Seems that sarcasm goes a long way on jingouser these days. This guy writes better than me, so I'm reposting it here for you fun and enjoyment. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ After a lifetime voting for and working for Democratic candidates and independents, I'm finally going to make the switch and become a Republican. The reasons are many, not the least of which is age. I turned 55 recently and, having lived more than half my life, I can't afford to worry anymore about th...

This newspaper article pretty much sums up why I hate this administration. It's not that the dubya dummies created all these messes, but rather that they refuse to address the issues. They refuse to acknowledge that there are issues. They just parrot these lame and lazy reasonings as to why the US is such a grand nation, the best on the planet, then do what they can to pilfer the hell out of the economy, lie like rugs over a failed war effort, rape the environment so corporate moguls can g...

Seems that according to CBS, dubya dumbass' ratings are hitting new lows. Before you all get all wadded up that polls are meaningless, I'm sure that if it was the other way around, you'd be posting the results every freakin' day. So please, spare me the hypocrisy. In fact, the neocon loving hypocrites are a distinct minority in this country now. About goddamm time. Some people are just a little slower to see what's right before their faces than others. Some poll results: DIRECTIO...

Dubya Dumbass did it again. He found yet another crony to hoist and foist upon the American people. This time, it's none other than Harriet Miers. Ya wonder how he finds these idiots, how he dredges from the bottom of the cesspool to come up with such crooks, but it's really second nature to him. That's where the dubya dumbass resides. In fact, Miers was head of a law firm in Texas that had to pay out $millions in fines for defrauding investors. And, as head she was a managing partner,...

Yearly US Budget Deficit or Surplis 1961-2004 (in $Billions) Note that is is constructed using data from the Congressional Budget Office's own website. Very teling visual about how voodoo economics, ie or aka Trickledown, ie or aka Reaganomics, is a proven failure. What's missing here is a visual showing where the money went. That is, based on the voodoo economics of tax cuts to "strengthen" the economy, we would like to know how much of this borrowed money went to whom, and for what?...

I found this exchange kind of interesting. I'm sure you all will, also. This pretty much speaks for itself. Needless to say, particular personal stuff was removed. A letter from Rich: FYI - Like the bumpersticker says, "If you're not angry, you're not paying attention." David Serota article Link My reply to him: As always, great hearing from you. I just want you to know that I actually have, really, that bumper sticker on my car right now. I've read about tha...
