You may or may not agree with the reasons that sent us to war in Iraq, but the consequences are undeniable. The author is extremely articulate, so I will not attempt to paraphrase any of what he's saying. Below is the entire article: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Families Pay the Price By BOB HERBERT Published: December 24, 2004 "It's like watching your son playing in traffic, and there's nothing you can do." - Janet Bellows, mother of a soldier who h...

Is it any wonder that so many people are demanding recounts and questioning the votes? I don't think that the recounts will overturn the election, but it sure does lead one to believe that Bush stole the election. I dunno. At the very least, I'd absolutely want to see some of these issues addressed and fixed prior to 2006. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Voting in the USA - 20 Amazing Facts by Angry Girl Nightweed.com Did you know.... 1. 80% of...

This story was in yesterday's GovExec.com newsletter. It is definitely a story worth following. As we all know, there have been a number of stories and even books written about how the administration cooked the intelligence to go to war. This is just one more page of that story. I find it interesting because quite a few CIA employees have stated the same thing. And, of course, the administration and the CIA officials deny this. Sometimes I feel like this is another "who shot Kennedy?" s...

Sharpen your Biblical skills... Defend marriage just as God has ordered As certain politicians work diligently to prevent marriage between two people of the same sex, others of us have been busy drafting a Constitutional Amendment codifying all marriages entirely on biblical principles. After all, God wouldn't want us to pick and choose which of the Scriptures we elevate to civil law and which we choose to ignore: Draft of a Constitutional Amendment to Defend Biblica...

I have used the term "short-sighted" numerous times in my observations of our illustrious republican and conservative administration. One of the most short-sighted and selfish agendas pushed through by them is their whacking away at the environment in general, using political pundits to edit scientific reports to further their agendas, and selling out our environment to a very self-serving and greedy industrial and corporate constituency. Not only will Americans suffer for these short-sight...

I received this in my email this morning, and I hope that you take the time to read this rather long article. It is important., and I'd love to get back some comments. (Trollers need not respond). ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ You are already aware that recently I served as the head of one of the top uniformed Federal law enforcement agencies in this country. At the arrival of the one-year anniversary of my being permanently silenced in retaliation for speak...

School Vouchers: Fact and Fiction The idea of school vouchers was created as a method of improving the educational process. Parents were upset that they were trapped in an inferior school district, but they did not have the financial ability to send their children to a private school. Vouchers will give parents a predetermined amount of money (between $2,000 and $4,000 is typical) to help them pay for private schools for their children. The following analyzes some fiction and the sur...

Received in my email today............................. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Exodus of Liberals The flood of American liberals sneaking across the border into Canada has intensified in the past week, sparking calls for increased patrols to stop the illegal immigration. The re-election of President Bush is prompting the exodus among left leaning citizens who fear they'll soon be required to hunt, pray and agree with Bill O'Reilly. Canadian border far...

This is an article from ABC News. If this is what the righties wanted when they voted for bush, this country is in deep shit. Even if you righties don't support this kind of evangelical stuff, you voted for the candidate who will implement it. These are going to be some really tough times for this country for the next four years, particularly for non christians. The separation of the christian church and the united states is blurring............... As the evangelical in this article sai...

This is an interesting website. Link There are six web pages of questions about where you would tend to stand on a presented issue. When you finish the test, an explanation of the compass is given, and you are compared to a few world leaders as to where you might stand. Needless to say, I pointed toward the liberal, and the leader I would likely follow is Gandhi. Give it a try. It may provide some interesting discussions.

I am reposting this entire article, because the first time around, it just got kind of screwed up, and I don't know why. I am also posting it in the Science & Tech category, because there doesn't seem to be an Environment category, where this really belongs. Also, via this article, I would like to suggest that an environmental category be added to joeuser. Thanks. And, thanks in advance for taking the time to read the article and following the link at the bottom of the page. ~~~~~~~~~~...

Yesterday,s New York Times editorial was about the GOP leadership looking to cut, and possibly eliminate the Pell Grants that enable poor and worthy people to get a higher education Link . Now that the election is over, all holds previously barred are unbarred, including these massive strikes in Iraq, and the raping of our society here. The massive rout in Iraq was necessary, I suppose, given that we allowed the insurgents to run off with all the weapons, and then had to go find them to ...

The following is an exerpt from an article that has interpreted both Patriot Acts I and II. Although it mentions the following two points of being "glaring" areas of concern, I think that there are more sections that are downright scary, like SECTION 103, which allows the Federal government to use wartime martial law powers domestically and internationally without Congress declaring that a state of war exists. There are two glaring areas that need to be looked at concerning this new legis...
